Like a spiritual companion to Creed, and that movie’s use of Sylvester Stallone, Hands of Stone plays with Robert De Niro’s famous Raging Bull boxer persona, recasting him as trainer Ray Arcel. The Roberto Duran biopic follows the career of the the Panamanian fighter (played by Édgar Ramirez), while Usher stars as Duran’s main rival, Sugar Ray Leonard, with whom Duran had three major fights in the ’80s. Ellen Barkin, Rubén Blades, and Ana de Armas also co-star. No más for now, but Hands of Stone hits theaters August 26.
