Craig Robinson knows you’ve noticed the similarities between his upcoming show Caraoke Showdown and James Corden’s exceedingly popular “Carpool Karaoke,†but he’s developed the perfect work-around. “I always say, I drive around saying I’m not James Corden!†the SpikeTV host told The Hollywood Reporter this week. However, the shows do have some important differences: While Corden’s “Carpoolâ€Â is a reoccurring bit that stars celebrities, Caraoke is a Cash Cab–style game show in which regular people are lured into a car where they must sing for money. “I hope he’s not upset about that,†Robinson said when asked about the similarities. “He’s a great host — I’ve been on his show and we did a duet, and it was right up my alley. He gets it. I have nothing but respect for him.†Robinson also admitted he technically hasn’t watched Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke,†but honestly his show should be fine. If “singing in a car with a bunch of nobodies†is a trademarked concept, then we all should be in jail for the rest of our lives.
