The snow glows white on Broadway tonight, not a director to be seen. A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like Alex Timbers is no longer the king. Disney has dismissed the prolific director, who worked on Here Lies Love and Peter and the Starcatcher, from the Frozen musical. Disney has yet to name a new director for the project, which has been in the works for nearly two years. Other Broadway productions — The Book of Mormon, Hairspray — have changed directors while in development without major consequences, but it remains to be seen whether Frozen will stick to its previously announced timeline, which includes a pre-Broadway run in Denver in the summer of 2017. Though, of course, Frozen is valuable intellectual property; Disney’s not about to — hmm, how do we say this? Dismiss it? Give it away? Let it … ?
