Long gone are the days when Jack White wasn’t launching vinyl into outer space and defending Tidal to the death, but, hey, at least dude gets sentimental sometimes. White has announced he’s releasing a collection of acoustic rarities spanning from 1998 to 2016, featuring different versions of familiar songs as well as unreleased material, including some tracks from – gasp! – the White Stripes. Jack’s original band with Meg has been officially defunct since 2011, but that doesn’t mean the vault has gone untouched. For a real #tbt, he’s now revisited a tender song called “City Lights,†which was apparently meant for 2005’s Get Behind Me Satan. Jack White Acoustic Recordings 1998–2016 is out September 9, and we can already tell we’re going to be friends with it.
