The show must go on, sometimes even when technically your show has already been canceled. On Monday night, Larry Wilmore opened The Nightly Show by addressing the elephant in the room: “So, how was your day?†he joked, making quick reference to Comedy Central axing his series. Wilmore then thanked the network, fans, and his staff, noting his pride that the show was “at its best when the news was at its worst,†and also his regret that he won’t be on late night to see the election through. But he also wasn’t shy about once again taking a jab at what he’d previously called the “unblackening†of Comedy Central: “On the plus side, our show going off the air has to only mean one thing: Racism is solved.
