Get out of here, Martin Short: It’s time for Maya and Melissa to work that alliterative mojo. Maya Rudolph has joined Life of the Party, Melissa McCarthy’s next project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rudolph will play McCarthy’s “neurotic best friend†in the college-set movie, which is being compared to Rodney Dangerfield’s Back to School, about a party-loving parent who joins his kid at school. Gillian Jacobs and Molly Gordon have also been cast as a sorority sister and McCarthy’s daughter, respectively. Life of the Party has a script by McCarthy and her husband, Ben Falcone, who is also directing. Rudolph and McCarthy last shared the screen for Bridesmaids, so between that movie, McCarthy and Kristen Wiig’s Ghostbusters team-up, and this Life of the Party news, the BFF jewelry shared between that bunch has gotta be tangled as heck.
