On Empire, Cookie has feuded with everyone from Naomi Campbell to the American criminal justice system (via gorilla suit), but never with Clair Huxtable herself. Now, Phylicia Rashad, per EW, will join the cast this season to play Diana Dubois, the wealthy mother of Taye Diggs’s character (he’s joining the cast this season as a “prominent New York politician and a new love interest for Cookieâ€). Judging by the Jane Fonda–J. Lo classic Monster-in-Law, Cookie and Diana will definitely serve up some soapy drama. Just imagine Taraji P. Henson saying the words “It was Diana Dubois all along!†and shaking her first. Our GIF-making fingers are twitching already.
