Anyone out there who’s been mourning the passing of WGN’s Manhattan just got a piece of good news. Rachel Brosnahan — famous among her fans for frequently playing queer characters — has been cast to star in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Amazon pilot, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. According to Deadline, Brosnahan will play the title character, a doting 1950s New York housewife and mother of two whose husband skips out on her for another woman. With her picture-perfect life in ruins, she does what all the most enterprising, self-loathing people out there do: She becomes a stand-up comic! Brosnahan fans, take heart — this show is just begging for a lesbian subplot.
