Are we living in the dawn of a Renée-ssance? (Boy, would that fill Ted Mosby with glee.) In the midst of the anticipation for Bridget Jones’s Baby, Renée Zellweger’s return to acting after a much-needed hiatus continues apace with Same Kind of Different As Me. Unfortunately, based on the film’s trailer, the jury is still very much out as to whether we should call this thing a comeback. In Same Kind of Different As Me (the kind of movie name that carries titles like Now You See Me and Me Before You past the goal post), Zellweger and Greg Kinnear play spouses whose strained marriage is mended when Kinnear’s Ron Hall befriends a homeless man (Djimon Hounsou) who Zellweger’s Deborah recognizes from her dream. The film is based on a book of the same name, a purported memoir written by Hall and Denver Moore (Hounsou’s character). Same Kind of Different As Me, the film that finally dares to solve the mystery of how adults make new friends, hits theaters February 3.
