Yesterday, Criminal Minds actor Thomas Gibson was suspended for an undisclosed number of episodes following an on-set altercation in which he allegedly kicked a man identified by Deadline as series executive producer Virgil Williams. Gibson then put out a statement expressing his regret, and saying, “We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will.†Now, Gibson is no longer a part of the Criminal Minds team: In a statement released today, ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios announced Gibson’s firing from the show. “Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds. Creative details for how the character’s exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date.†The actor played Aaron Hotchner on the series for 11 years and 255 episodes, more than any other character. It was a good run by any measure, but a bad way to go out.
