Greg Berlanti is taking a break from superhero shows, but will still be taking on the greatest evil of all: teenage angst. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is in negotiations to direct Fox 2000’s adaptation of Becky Albertalli’s YA best-seller, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Berlanti is known for his work on adaptations of DC Entertainment comics and characters, writing, developing, and executive-producing shows such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. The film follows a high-school junior named Simon whose sexual-orientation secret falls into the hands of the class clown, and Simon tries to find a way to come out to his friends and family on his own. The script was written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, and should go into production by early 2017.
