Naya Rivera has a new memoir out, and it’s called Sorry Not Sorry. But according to excerpts of the book published by People, one thing it sounds like she is justifiably kind of sorry for is dating former co-star Mark Salling, who is awaiting trial for possession of child pornography. In a supreme stroke of irony, Rivera said Salling’s breakup with her, in 2010, happened because his publicist thought the three-year-long, stable relationship was bad for his image. But thankfully, Rivera has found the obvious silver lining: “When Mark dumped me, I thought it was the worst thing ever.†She added, “but can you imagine if that didn’t happen? And I was laying there in bed when the battering ram came through the door?†She adds a bit of advice in her book, pointing out that every relationship, even if it ends, is a learning experience. “I think everyone should have that one relationship where you look back and ask yourself, ‘What the hell was I thinking?’ You’ll learn something and you won’t regret it,†writes Rivera. “Unless, of course, that relationship was with someone who had a sizable stash of child porn on his computer. Then, by all means, regret everything.†Most unfortunate, it sounds like Rivera wasn’t exactly blindsided by the news that her former boyfriend ended up getting arrested for sex offenses: “I can’t say I was totally shocked, but still — WTF?†Yikes.
