After signing on to direct the Pitch Perfect threequel, Elizabeth Banks backed out of the role in June, citing family-related scheduling conflicts. The search for a replacement has been on since then, and today it’s being reported by news outlets and Elizabeth Banks’s Twitter that Trish Sie will take over the big chair. Sie’s most recent directing credit is the music video for “Upside Down & Inside Out†by OK Go (her third collaboration with the band), but her last and only feature-film credit is Step Up: All In from 2014. It was the fifth installment of the franchise. Banks will continue to oversee the movie as a producer and reprise her role as Gail, the out of touch a cappella announcer, while stars Brittany Snow, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Hailee Steinfeld are all still set to return. Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two movies, has also penned the script for the third.
