No man is better suited to sending up the traditions of obscure and obsessive communities than Christopher Guest, who directed Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. Now, in Netflix’s Mascots, Guest takes on the world of mascot competitions, with the help of many of his collaborators, including Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Bob Balaban, John Michael Higgins, Ed Begley Jr., Fred Willard, and Jennifer Coolidge, and newcomers like Zach Woods and Chris O’Dowd. Mascots premieres on Netflix on October 13. Everyone’s outfits seem suitably ridiculous, though no one is dressed as a busy bee.
