Sure, plenty of Hollywood stars have participated in videos encouraging young voters to get out and vote, but that’s exactly why Aziz Ansari is annoyed he has to do it as well. “How many celebrities have made these stupid fucking videos? Robert Downey Jr. made one, DiCaprio made one, Jennifer Lawrence made one,†Ansari says, “Why do you need me?†The comedian isn’t just mad about the sheer fact that he’s being asked to join his famous voice to the cause — though, it is interfering with his lunch break — but also that at this point voters aren’t fired up enough already to want to vote. “There’s a fucking guy running that says he hates brown people! That’s not enough?!†Aziz shouts before also mentioning Donald Trump’s stance on climate change (that it’s a hoax), and reiterating, “Seriously?! This video is going to make the difference?â€Â
Of course NextGen Climate, the maker of the ad, is hoping it does make a difference. While you can enjoy Ansari’s bewildered yelling no matter what state, or even country, you’re in, the organization is hoping its #WhyWeVote campaign reaches Millennial voters in swing states that agree with Aziz’s argument: “Do you realize how dumb you have to be to not believe in climate change at this point?†Watch the video above, and remember, Election Day is just three weeks away.
