Bill Cosby’s legal team is making a new argument in regards to his upcoming sexual-assault trial, claiming that the comedian is legally blind and consequently cannot recognize his accusers in court. Per NBC News, Cosby’s attorneys filed a new court document that says: “No 79-year-old blind man could possibly defend himself against a claim that he sexually assaulted someone he supposedly met once, half a century ago.†Cosby’s attorneys also note that Cosby has registered with a state commission for the blind, and that at an upcoming pre-trial hearing, he will provide a doctor’s note attesting to his legal blindness. Prosecutors on the case, however, contend that Cosby’s impaired eyesight does not prevent him from assisting in his defense. Despite repeated attempts to get the charges dismissed, Cosby is currently awaiting trial, having been accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004.
