Billy Bush was suspended by NBC on Sunday for his role in the 2005 Access Hollywood tape that features Donald Trump making lewd comments about women, and now Bush’s eventual return to his gig as a host on Today appears to be unlikely. CNN Money reports that multiple sources are suggesting Bush’s suspension will prove permanent, with one source saying, “He will never be on the show again.†Bush’s benching comes after an initial reluctance by NBC to discipline the star; Bush apologized for his behavior in the video on Friday, but NBC did not suspend him until Sunday. Announcing the suspension, Noah Oppenheim, the NBC executive in charge of Today, wrote in a memo: “Let me be clear — there is simply no excuse for Billy’s language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter.†Bush had only been a host on Today since May, though he’s been in the NBC family for much longer, having been a co-host of the network’s Access Hollywood at the time of the now infamous taping.
