If you want his body, and you think he’s sexy … you’re going to have to call him Sir, first. Rod Stewart — or, ahem — Sir Roderick David Stewart — was knighted at Buckingham Palace today by Prince William. The 71-year-old Stewart, joined by his wife Penny Lancaster and two of his eight children, looked dashing in tartan pants that nodded to his Scottish-British heritage as he knelt before the Duke of Cambridge. Stewart’s impending knighthood was first announced back in June as part of Queen Elizabeth’s 2016 birthday honors. He was honored for “services to music and charity,†though we’d add “service to hair-product usage†to that list. Sir Rod joins a growing list of rockers sword-tapped for knighthood, including Sirs Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, and Elton John. Famously, David Bowie was courted for knightship in 2003 but declined, saying, “It’s not what I spent my life working for.†For his part, Stewart accepted the honor lamenting only that his mum and dad couldn’t be there to see it. He is, as of this writing, likely sipping gin and Dubbonet with the Queen.
