This is a party. This is a disco. This is an extreme amount of fooling around. Maya Rudolph joined Fred Armisen and Bill Hader’s Talking Heads parody band Test Pattern, birthed from their IFC show Doctumentary Now!, onstage last night at Tenacious D’s Festival Supreme in Los Angeles. Like all good parody bands (i.e. Weird Al), they genuinely wailed. The Test Pattern album is top notch and Armisen and Hader were also excellent on Late Night, so after a certain point you have to ask yourself: Is it okay that my favorite new music is just a big, long joke?
