As it turns out, time is the biggest supervillain of them all. The first trailer for March’s Logan, the final ride for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, has arrived, and boy, it’s a downer for our beloved furball. While Johnny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt†strums along, we see an aged version of the titular mutant scowl and hunch in a Terminator: Salvation–esque world where mutants are dying out. Charles Xavier isn’t doing too well, either, but he and a mysterious girl accompany Wolvie on what appears to be a road trip of sorts. Dudes in SUVs stalk them. In a cinematic universe that last featured Oscar Isaac as a purple god touching a TV and yelling “Learrrrrrniiiiiing!,†this is a welcome bit of dourness.
