Director and screenwriter David O. Russell — tired of picking up Oscar nominations (The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) — is making the move to prestige television, and he’s bringing some major star power with him. A few months ago, it was announced that Russell was shopping around a television series with Julianne Moore and Robert De Niro already attached to star, and according to Deadline, Amazon has won the bidding war and already signed up to produce two eight-episode seasons. While everyone is rather tight-lipped about the exact premise of the series, rumor has it that the show will be a mafia drama, which has us hoping we’re dealing with some sort of American Hustle spinoff and the return of Jennifer Lawrence to some choice period outfits.
