ABC has put into development a comedy series set in a VA hospital. According to Variety, the network has given a put-pilot order to a single-cam comedy produced by Jim Parsons called Lakeside VA. Written by Shelly Gossman – who worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in her 20s – the series follows “a C+ team of VA hospital employees who are underfunded, understaffed, and stopped overworking themselves to make up for it years ago, until a new hotshot female chief of surgery steps in to turn them into an A team.” Gossman will co-executive produce alongside Parsons and Modern Family’s Bill Wrubel, who will serve as showrunner if the show lands a series order.
