Leonard Cohen’s death at the age of 82 was confirmed by his label last week, but details, such as the date and cause of death, were scarce. Cohen’s manager Robert B. Kory now says that Cohen died in his sleep after suffering a fall in the middle of the night. According to the New York Times, Kory wrote, “The death was sudden, unexpected and peaceful.†He also reveals the singer-songwriter’s date of death to be November 7, three days before the news became public. Cohen had memorably told the New Yorker just last month, “I am ready to die. I hope it’s not too uncomfortable,†so it is at least comforting to see that Cohen knew better than us, as always.
