If you were hoping to survive Election Day by hiding out somewhere fun, festive, and entertaining where you can’t use your phone, bad news: The Times Square Señor Frog’s closed in August. If you already knew that and planned ahead accordingly, hopefully you purchased tickets to Lion King, Aladdin, and/or Hamilton. If not, most of your other options on the Great White Way are closed for business on Tuesday. The Color Purple, Cats, Kinky Boots, The Phantom of the Opera, School of Rock, Waitress, Oh, Hello on Broadway, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Chicago, The Encounter, The Front Page, Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 are among the productions that have preemptively cancelled their Election Day performances. The Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall will also be dark that day, and don’t even bother looking for Blue Man Group tickets. Those guys will all be at Jill Stein’s election-night event, guaranteed. It’s in their contract.
