In the wake of Carrie Fisher’s tragic passing on Tuesday, the memorials have come flooding in from friends, co-stars, ex-husbands, and fans. Many have spotlighted her roles in When Harry Met Sally, The Blues Brothers, and Hannah and Her Sisters, but all of these pale in comparison to her most iconic role: Princess (and later, General) Leia in the Star Wars series. As played by Fisher, Leia wasn’t a typical damsel in distress: With her withering put-downs, unflappable demeanor, and impeccable blaster-aiming skills, this princess was an inspiration for generations. She will be missed.
