It feels like Star Wars comes earlier and earlier every year! Now that we’re only 15 days away from the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first entry in your informal advent calendar is this cute little clip from the film, in which Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso and Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor scamper away from some Imperial Stormtroopers in the desert world of Jedha. Brawling and shooting ensues, as does a close call for Alan Tudyk’s reformed battle droid K-2SO. Michael Giacchino’s score is in full John Williams mode all the way through. Though it’s a fun scene, Lucasfilm’s decision to release it as the first publicly available portion of the movie does raise questions about the company’s potentially problematic attempts to reframe director Gareth Edwards’s war film as a J.J. Abrams–esque charmfest. We’ll find out for sure if that’s the case on December 16.
