Since Donald Trump became president, this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner seemed pretty much doomed to be terrible. First Samantha Bee announced she will host her own Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner special, then outlets like Vanity Fair and The New Yorker canceled their WHCD parties, then over the weekend Trump announced that he will not be attending the event – the first president to skip the WHCD in over 30 years. Thankfully, one man has stepped up to the plate with the only good idea to make the Correspondents’ Dinner a worthwhile night: Trump vs. Bernie’s Anthony Atamanuik, who is offering his services as the world’s best Trump impersonator so the show can go on.
Unsurprisingly, a ton of people support this idea and want the White House Correspondents’ Association to make it happen:
If you need more proof that Atamanuik is the perfect man for the Trump-less WHCD, look no further than this clip from his Fusion special with James Adomian Trump vs. Bernie: Shout the Vote:
The White House Correspondents’ Dinner takes place in DC on Saturday, April 29th.
