The 2017 Independent Spirit Awards were handed out over the weekend, and hosts Nick Kroll and John Mulaney kicked off the ceremony with an opening monologue that’s about as hilarious as you might expect from the Oh, Hello guys. Kroll and Mulaney cover everything from Mel Gibson (“You know, people wondered, ‘How long would it take Hollywood to forgive someone for anti-Semitic racist hate speech?’ The answer? Eight years!â€) to Steve Bannon (“Steve Bannon’s so hot. He looks like if Nick Offerman drownedâ€) to Shia LaBeouf (“I bet when Shia makes a hard left in his car, a bunch of stuff slides aroundâ€) to their place inside the coastal liberal elite bubble: “And no, conservatives, we are not in a bubble, okay?
