Adult Swim just added two quarter-hour animated comedies to its lineup. Paste reports that the network has given series orders to Apollo Gauntlet and Hot Streets, which were ordered as pilots back in 2015 and made available for viewers on Adult Swim’s website back in August.
Created by Myles Langlois, Apollo Gauntlet centers on a cop named Paul Cassidy “who’s been transported to another world by the evil Dr. Benign, and fights crime with a pair of talking gauntlets and a magical suit.†Hot Streets, meanwhile, was created by Rick and Morty writer Bryan Wysol and centers on FBI Agent Mark Branski as he “investigates unexplained supernatural goings on with his partner, his niece and her dog.†Seth Green and Justin Roiland are credited as co-executive producers on the show. Apollo Gauntlet is expected to premiere in the summer, then Hot Streets will debut sometime in the fall.
While these shows have been in the works for over a year, it’s still a bit of a bummer to see that the network seems to be continuing its trend of only greenlighting shows created by men through the new year. Adult Swim typically announces its upfront slate of new shows, pilots, and specials in May, so we’ll likely have to wait a little longer to see what new projects are in the works in 2017.
