CBS’s Big Bang Theory spin-off about Sheldon Cooper is officially happening. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has given the project, titled Young Sheldon, a series order, and it will debut on the network sometime during the 2017-2018 broadcast season. Originally put into development back in November, the series Iain Armitage as the titular character, with Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord, and Montana Jordan rounding out the cast. The spin-off is described as “Malcolm in the Middle with a young Sheldon,†and will follow the 9-year-old “as he lives with his family in East Texas and goes to high school.†Jim Parsons will narrate the show and also co-executive produce alongside Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro.
