Any experience that lasts for a decade-plus is sure to leave its mark, but that sentiment gets a lot more literal when the decade-plus experience in question involves outfitting your knuckles with metal skewers. And so, although Hugh Jackman is done making X-Men movies, he’ll always remember his time as Wovlerine — because the resulting scars won’t let him forget. “I can’t tell you how many people I stabbed, how I stabbed myself. They were killing machines,†Jackman told Entertainment Weekly of his Wolverine claws. There was the particularly traumatic instance in which Jackman sliced right into the arm of a Mystique stunt double, leaving a “freaked out†Jackman to watch as “the blood gurgled up.†Then there’s the cluster of scars that come from Jackman’s self-inflicted wounds. “I’ve got a number of scars on my thighs, and it’s really not cool. Pretty close to some sensitive areas, but everything’s fine,†he said. Sure, fine. Hugh Jackman, taking the tortured-artist vibe to new heights.
