Bill Murray is used to doing things his own way, so when you put him in the middle of a situation bound by the rules of mere mortals, things are likely to go a little haywire. And so it was when the sportsball fan threw the first pitch at the opening day for the Charleston RiverDogs, a Minor League team of which Murray is a co-owner and “Director of Fun.†Taking the title very seriously, Murray tried to ensure a good time for all by greasing the umpire with some cold, hard cash. The ump resisted, and the RiverDogs ultimately suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Lexington Legends, showing that if your morals aren’t Murray’s, they ain’t worth much.
