Melissa McCarthy’s upcoming movie The Happytime Murders is rounding out its cast. Deadline reports that Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of the film, which has been in development at The Jim Henson Company since 2012 with Brian Hanson attached to direct. Melissa McCarthy signed on to star and produce alongside Ben Falcone earlier this year, and Maya Rudolph joined the cast last month. Set in “the LA underbelly where puppets and humans co-exist,†the movie centers on McCarthy’s character and a puppet “who are forced to work together to solve the mystery of who is brutally murdering the former cast of The Happytime Gang, a beloved classic puppet show.†Banks will play a burlesque dancer in the movie, which is slated to hit theaters August 17, 2018.
