‘Full Frontal’s Ashley Nicole Black Meets Stacey Abrams, the “Political Shonda Rhimes�

Here’s a clip from last night’s Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, where correspondent Ashley Nicole Black heads to Georgia to meet gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, who just might become the first-ever black female governor in the country. As Black quickly learns, Abrams is extremely overqualified for the job and has found creative ways to win over voters (“My goal is to reverse-engineer what Republicans did.� “Wait a minute. How do you un-burn a cross?�). After Abrams tells Black she’s had to “work sometimes more than twice as hard� to get where she is now, Black comes to a realization: “You’re the political Shonda Rhimes!� “That is the nicest compliment you could give me,� Abrams says. During a week where so many white liberals are freaking out over the smallest hint that Oprah might run for president, Black’s point at the top of this segment is more important than ever: “Democrats, you can’t just have black women save your ass. Elect a few!�
