The Daily Show’s Roy Wood Jr. might get his own Comedy Central series. According to Deadline, the network is developing a half-hour comedy from Wood called Re-Established, in which he would star as “a parole officer willing to bend the rules to help the parolees on his watch, much to the chagrin of his partner and everyone else in his life.†Trevor Noah and The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder are attached to executive produce the project, and if it lands a series order, McGruder will also serve as showrunner. In addition to his correspondent gig on The Daily Show, Wood hosts the new season of Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening, which premiered earlier this month.
