Jon Hamm Stands Up for Federal Employees

By

When Jon Hamm sat at Sundance with his co-stars Annette Bening, Maura Tierney, and director Scott Z. Burns to talk about their new film The Report, he pulled absolutely no punches. Hamm lauded the film’s real-life protagonist, Senate staffer Daniel Jones, and how his thankless task of reviewing thousands of documents related to the CIA’s interrogation program was devoid of a party agenda. “He works for America,” Hamm said, before referencing the hundreds of thousands of federal employees who’ve gone without pay for over a month “because someone had a tantrum.” “Those people work for America,” he said, as we all wondered aloud whether he might make a good real life president. “They don’t work for one side or the other.”
