One of the reasons that Conan O’Brien’s TBS late-night show has slimmed down to a half-hour format is to make room for O’Brien to do the things he loves most, and one of those things is heading to other countries for his Conan Without Borders specials. For the past week, O’Brien has been offering up some teases about his next remote special in Australia on Instagram, which follows last year’s trips to Italy (April 2018) and Japan (November 2018). It all started with this Instagram post announcing the big trip:
Then there was this post featuring famous Australian Hugh Jackman, who lets O’Brien know that his lack of an Australia trip so far has not gone ignored by the country’s people: “You’ve been everywhere around the world except Australia. It’s almost like you’re going out of your way not to go to Australia. Just saying. And cause we’re mates, I just wanted you to know it’s been noticed. Come on, man.â€
Just two days later, O’Brien landed in Sydney:
Can you guess where he is here?
Other Australian activities O’Brien has participated in so far include lifeguard training at Bondi Beach, discovering that the Australian sun requires extreme protection for his pale Irish skin, learning how to play football with the Sydney Swans, and getting personal with koalas at a wildlife sanctuary:
TBS hasn’t announced a premiere date yet for the special, so for now, you’ll have to keep an eye on O’Brien’s Instagram for his latest updates from Down Under.
