At the beginning of January it was announced that John Lasseter, the disgraced former head of Disney Animation and Pixar, would be the new lead at Skydance Animation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, that decision just cost them one big star. Emma Thompson had started early recording work for a voice role in the studio’s animated movie Luck, and she has reportedly left the project over Lasseter’s role at the company. At the end of last year he resigned from his Disney post following accusations of inappropriate conduct, but Skydance stepped in anyway, hoping that the former brain behind Pixar could push them to a new level of success. After Lasseter’s hiring, the Time’s Up organization released a statement condemning the decision, saying in part, “Hiring decisions have consequences. And offering a high-profile position to an abuser who has yet to do any of those things is condoning abuse.†For now, at least one of those consequences is losing Thompson.
