Last night, both Late Night with Seth Meyers and Desus & Mero debuted parodies of Green Book. It makes sense. The Oscars are Sunday, and Green Book’s Best Picture nomination was controversial at best. Both sketches have stuff to offer. D&M has Mero in whiteface, and focuses more on Green Book’s particular sins. Late Night features Lutz as a cartoonish racist who is so full of hate he cannot form real words. It also name-checks The Root and calls out Cool Runnings. I recommend watching both. Since we’ve been subjected to countless films about racism from the white perspective, it only seems fair that we watch endless sketches roasting those films.
