Chris Messina is set to star in a new YouTube drama pilot called Dark Cargo opposite RJ Cyler, and executive produced by Nicky Weinstein and Ben Stiller. Messina will play a long-haul trucker named Joe Dobbs who is “about to embark on the most treacherous ride of his life.†Hmm, perhaps because of some cargo? Some … dark cargo? The show promises a “high-octane, cliffhanger-driven, neo-noir thriller†which sounds about right, since we last saw Messina playing the intrepid detective Richard Willis in HBO’s decidedly very dark thriller Sharp Objects. Cyler, who most recently starred in Jim Carrey’s I’m Dying Up Here on Showtime, is set to play “a clever, mischievous young man who alters the trajectory of Joe’s journey.†But that’s nice that he has company while driving, at least.
