John Legend Has Some Thoughts on the College Admissions Scam

True to form, John Legend has reached into his extremely deep well of good takes and fished us out a gem. Legend was asked last week about the now infamous college admissions scam, which his wife Chrissy Teigen also commented on by attempting to photoshop them both into Harvard. As a graduate of the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, you’d think maybe Legend would take umbrage at all these privileged children trying to get in the “side door†of academia. But actually, he seems pretty unfazed.

“I think it’s a longer conversation because I think a lot of people look at this rightly as fraudulent and dishonest,†he told Entertainment Tonight. “But the bottom line is, the system has been rigged for wealthy people for a long time. The admissions system rewards people’s parents being wealthy and people’s parents having gone to a certain school. There’s a lot of legal ways to do that that still aren’t really that fair to a lot of other people.†And then we have to assume he climbed onto the back of a dragon and flew away.
