Has A24 ever met a coming-of-age-ish story it didn’t love and support? The indie studio has executive produced Ramy, created by and starring Ramy Youssef and executive produced by Jerrod Carmichael. Youssef plays Ramy Hassan, a first-generation Egyptian-American trying to figure out his spiritual life and his love life. “I don’t know what I’m doing, man. I look at my parents and how strong they are, and how they just know everything’s going to be okay because they have God,†Ramy confesses to a rather nonplussed man. “And yeah, I have sex even though I’m not married. So what? That means I’m not a good Muslim? I’m just, like, trying to be good.†The friend’s reaction is simple: “You jerk off too much.†Watch Ramy on Hulu April 19.
