A live-action Dora the Explorer movie is something that will be happening to us late this summer. Dora and the Lost City of Gold appears to be a Jungle 2 Jungle-esque fish-out-of-water story. Dora has to go to the city because her archeologist parents (Michael Peña and Eva Longoria) are hot on the trail of the legendary lost City of Gold. She doesn’t get how school buses work! She brought flares to school! But then Dora, Diego, and two other teens get kidnapped and the whole thing gets a lot more Young Indiana Jones. Dora will apparently kick butt and save her parents, and probably find that titular lost city. And let’s not forget that Benicio Del Toro is voicing Swiper in this flick, and Danny Trejo is playing Dora’s monkey sidekick Boots. Fine. That’s fine. Dora and the Lost City of Gold premieres August 2.
