Avengers: Endgame was on the market for less than 20 hours before hitting a stunning box-office landmark. In fact, in just 17 hours, the final installment of Marvel’s “Infinity Saga†made $100 million, with $60 million of that being generated during Thursday-night preview showings. The previous record holder for reaching that threshold the quickest was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which took a whole 21 hours to make that much money. Given that this is the culmination of a 22-movie shared universe spanning ten years, and that it’s been getting rave reviews from critics, Endgame is unsurprisingly on its way to more massive box-office totals this opening weekend.
Tracking suggests the film could have the biggest opening day of all time, with estimates going as high as $150 million, contributing to a “cautious†projection of $300 million in domestic intake alone. (Deadline is pushing that number up to as much as $330 million.) Around the world, Endgame has already made more than $300 million at the international markets, meaning it will easily clear the half-billion-dollar mark by Monday morning.
