The basic-cable hot mess known as The View pivoted to SNL earlier this month, where, among other things, Aidy Bryant donned a fabulous yellow-blonde wig to parody Meghan McCain as a racist princess of Arizona. (“There’s a crisis at the border and the border is right up in my Arizona, which was founded on sunburnt women selling turquoise jewelry,†McCain muses in the sketch. “Not random Mexicans.â€) Well, The View is back from its li’l spring hiatus, and the ladies are insisting that the sketch was the thrill of a lifetime — perhaps none more so than McCain herself. “I worked at SNL as an intern in college. I used to get Lorne Michaels’s popcorn and beer,†she reminded the audience. “It’s a pop-culture honor to be parodied by them. Aidy Bryant and I went to high school together. It’s an honor all the way around and you nailed me, so there you go, I loved it.†You’re welcome!
