Our nation might feel more divided than ever, but there is actually one thing all Americans can agree on: Bones is a good show. Deadline reported today on a new study released by the Norman Lear Center at USC Annenberg and the futurePerfect Lab that examines the links between political beliefs and TV-show preferences. Some of their takeaways were obvious: Liberals love Modern Family and SNL, while conservatives love Duck Dynasty and NCIS. (Meanwhile, fans of The Walking Dead tend to be more concerned about immigration, go figure.) But other observations were more surprising, for instance, Cake Boss viewers were more likely to support traditional gender roles. So, there’s that.
Five TV shows were enjoyed by all: Bones, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Criminal Minds, and Mythbusters, while Pawn Stars is considered a hate-watch by basically everyone. The study also found that overall, Americans are becoming less divided, with more people shifting toward more moderate or liberal views. Hey, that’s great news for SNL!
