Netflix’s critically acclaimed series On My Block, which focuses on a group of teenagers growing up in the fictional Los Angeles neighborhood of Freeridge, has been renewed for a third season. In contrast to the emotional cancellation of One Day at a Time and the recent sad news of Santa Clarita Diet being shut down, On My Block’s return is a welcome bit of good news to emerge from the opaque decision-making process at Netflix. Third seasons have proved fateful for a number of past shows at the streamer (see Jessica Jones, Daredevil, ODAAT, and Santa Clarita among them), so here’s hoping the teens of Freeridge can buck that series-cycle trend.
