This week’s episode of Riverdale was a tragic milestone for the series, as it aired the final scene Luke Perry filmed before his death from a fatal stroke in March. The scene depicts Perry’s character, Fred Andrews, offering some consolation to his son Archie, played by KJ Apa. “As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie,†showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote about the scene on Twitter. “A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever …†However, the episode did not address the fact that it was Perry’s last appearance on the show, leaving the fate of his character yet to be determined.
