Fresh off her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, Sandra Oh sat down for an interview with Ellen DeGeneres to reflect on the wild ride that is hosting the biggest late-night sketch-comedy show in existence. After chatting about staying up past her bedtime to attend the after-party and being nervous to play Tishy in the “Future Self†sketch (a Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell creation, it turns out), Ellen asks Oh if her parents — who were the subject of the most heartwarming part of Oh’s Golden Globes speech — enjoyed her performance. Then, Oh drops the big reveal. “You know what? My parents have no idea what Saturday Night Live is, and so I had to explain to them what it is,†she tells DeGeneres. But yes, if you’re curious, Oh’s parents did indeed watch their daughter host SNL — after getting a quick lesson on what the show is from her. “Even when they don’t know exactly what I’m doing,†Oh says, “they’re proud that I am doing it.†So are we!
