Sounds like someone got their hands on the Lament Configuration and just couldn’t help themselves. Deadline reports that David S. Goyer will produce and write the script for a “re-imagination†of Hellraiser. The original film was adapted from the Clive Barker novella The Hellbound Heart, with the author writing and directing that horror classic. There have been ten Hellraiser films made since the first film in 1987, with the most recent, Hellraiser: Judgment, coming out in 2018. Goyer boards the project with some strong screen credits. He co-wrote Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy as well as all three Blade movies starring Wesley Snipes. He also wrote the 1998 film Dark City. (Taken all together, we’ll say that cancels out his screenplay for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.) New Hellraiser will be produced through the recently launched Spyglass Media Group, which is fast-tracking the project — because no one should have to wait too long for their serving of Cenobites.
